About this service

What is the "Safe Bus" service?

"Safe Bus" is a service provided by the Ministry of Digital Affairs that enables users to look up basic information about a bus, coach, minibus, or other vehicle used to transport passengers. Before you or your loved ones depart on a trip, find out if the bus has a valid inspection certificate and liability insurance, and make sure it hasn't been marked as withdrawn from circulation. The report is easy to save and print out. Information about buses is offered completely free of charge.

What can I find out?

The service provides up-to-date information about buses from the CEP database. It allows users to look up:

  • whether a vehicle has valid civil liability insurance,
  • whether a vehicle has a valid inspection certificate and the date of the next scheduled inspection,
  • the state of a bus' odometer as recorded at the last technical inspection (Note: the system will only record odometer data beginning in 2014),
  • technical specifications such as the number of seats and curb weight,
  • whether the vehicle is currently flagged as deregistered or stolen in the database.

How can I look up this data?

All you need to do is enter the registration number, which can be found on the vehicle's license plate.

Where does this data come from?

The data comes from the Central Vehicle Register. This is a register run by the Ministry of Digital Affairs, pursuant to the Road Traffic Act.
